The Bank of Agriculture has commenced the nationwide distribution of farm inputs to 500,000 smallholder farmers under the agricultural support drive of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
The initiative is aimed at boosting food production, improving access to essential farming resources, and strengthening agricultural value chains across Nigeria.
According to the bank, the programme is designed to reduce production costs for farmers and enhance food security by ensuring timely access to inputs such as fertilizers, improved seeds, and other farming materials.
The distribution exercise will cover all geopolitical zones, with priority given to smallholder farmers who play a key role in domestic food supply.
Officials say the intervention will also support rural employment, increase agricultural output, and align with the Federal Government’s broader agenda on food security and economic diversification.
The Bank of Agriculture reaffirmed its commitment to empowering farmers and improving productivity through targeted support programmes aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
