Three Killed in Fresh Gunmen Attack on Plateau Mining Site

Three persons have been killed and two others injured following an attack by suspected gunmen on a mining site in Nyango, Gyel District of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The attack occurred around 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday when the assailants reportedly stormed the mining site and opened fire indiscriminately, sending miners and residents fleeing for safety.

The victims were confirmed dead at the scene, while the injured were rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Security agencies have yet to identify the attackers or make any arrests, as investigations into the incident continue.

Reacting to the attack, the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM) condemned the killings, describing them as part of a disturbing pattern of violence affecting Gyel and neighbouring communities. The association urged security agencies to intensify efforts to safeguard lives and property and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The latest incident has once again raised concerns over the persistent insecurity in parts of Plateau State, where attacks on communities and mining sites have continued despite ongoing security interventions.
