The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is set to unveil the winner of the Every Home A Garden competition, an initiative aimed at promoting food sufficiency through home gardening.

The announcement follows the completion of a final selection review by the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Governing Board, assisted by friends of the organization. Senator Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the competition’s success, highlighting its impact on self-sustenance and community support.

“The objective of this competition has been achieved because people can now feed themselves and their neighbors,” she stated. “When we started this journey almost a year ago, nobody would have believed it was possible. However, we have shown the potential for people to grow food at home, even as I continue harvesting from the State House garden.”

The First Lady also praised the dedication of everyone involved, acknowledging the contributions of the RHI team and their supporters. She noted that the initiative has encouraged many women to plant gardens within their homes, promoting food security.

The final stage of the competition involved a presentation by the top three finalists, which was evaluated by the First Lady and a panel of assessors. The winner will be officially announced on December 5, 2024.

“This achievement has been possible through collective effort and God’s grace,” Tinubu added. “We are excited to reveal the winner soon and to continue encouraging home gardening across the country.”

The Every Home A Garden competition is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative, which strives to empower households and strengthen food security nationwide.
