
President Tinubu and Macron Exchange Jovial Greetings in Pidgin English
President Bola Tinubu and French President Emmanuel Macron shared lighthearted exchanges in Pidgin English on social media on Thursday during Tinubu’s state visit to France.
Tinubu arrived in France on Wednesday evening and met with Macron on Thursday. During their discussion, Macron fondly recalled his time as a young intern at the French Embassy in Nigeria.
Taking to his X account, Macron expressed his delight in Pidgin English, writing:
“Na big honor for France, dear President Bola Tinubu @officialABAT, to welcome you for dis State visit as one big partner and friend of today and tomorrow. E still dey sweet me well well as I remember say I be young intern for French Embassy for Nigeria that time.”
In response, Tinubu thanked Macron in French and continued the exchange in Pidgin. He expressed excitement about strengthening bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of a partnership rooted in mutual respect and equality.
