
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated elder statesman and politician Alhaji Tanko Yakassai on his 99th birthday, describing him as a towering figure in Nigeria’s history.
In a heartfelt tribute, President Tinubu lauded Alhaji Yakassai’s enduring contributions to the development of Northern Nigeria and the nation at large. He praised Yakassai’s dedication to public service, his advocacy for citizens’ rights, and his pivotal role as a human rights activist and former Parliamentary Liaison Officer to President Shehu Shagari during the Second Republic.
“Your insightful critiques and advice have significantly shaped government policies over the years,” President Tinubu remarked, noting Yakassai’s legacy of fostering dialogue and understanding in Nigerian society.
As a founding member of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Yakassai also received commendation for his steadfast support during President Tinubu’s recent election campaign and his belief in a united and prosperous Nigeria.
