
The German Embassy in Abuja has announced that Germany’s President, Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, will embark on a three-day official visit to Nigeria from December 10 to 12. This visit marks a significant step in the growing diplomatic ties between Germany and Nigeria and represents the third high-level exchange between the two nations since the inauguration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The German president’s delegation will include captains of industry and senior executives from leading companies in the IT, high-tech, and energy sectors, signaling a focus on economic collaboration and innovation.
During his visit, President Steinmeier is scheduled to meet with President Tinubu and Dr. Alieu Omar Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission, highlighting the strategic importance of Nigeria within the West African subregion.
The trip will also include cultural engagements in Lagos State. President Steinmeier is expected to meet with renowned Nigerian artist Dr. Nike Okundaye at the Nike Art Gallery and the globally celebrated Nobel Laureate for Literature, Prof. Wole Soyinka.
The visit underscores Germany’s commitment to strengthening its ties with Nigeria, both economically and culturally, and reinforces Nigeria’s pivotal role in fostering regional stability and innovation.
