The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has called for swift justice following an attack on four Fulani travellers in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.
The incident reportedly occurred while the victims were travelling through the area en route to visit relatives. According to MACBAN, the travellers were ambushed, resulting in the death of one person, while two others sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment. One person reportedly escaped the attack.
In a statement, MACBAN condemned the violence and urged security agencies to urgently investigate the incident, arrest those responsible, and ensure that justice is served. The group also appealed for calm among residents, warning that continued attacks could worsen tensions in the area.
MACBAN further dismissed claims circulating on social media suggesting that the victims were involved in criminal activity, insisting that they were peaceful travellers.
Authorities in Benue State have yet to release a detailed official report on the incident, while investigations are expected to continue. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
