The Nigerian Navy has intercepted a large consignment of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (diesel), estimated at over 103,000 litres, in a major anti-oil theft operation in Rivers State.

The operation, carried out by personnel of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder under Operation Delta Sentinel, targeted a suspected creek-to-market supply chain used by oil thieves to distribute stolen petroleum products.

Naval officers reportedly discovered a wooden boat conveying about 375 sacks of illegally refined diesel along waterways in the Woji area of Rivers State. The interception occurred while the vessel was attempting to move the product from illegal refining sites in the creeks into commercial markets.

According to naval authorities, the seizure forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle illegal refining operations and disrupt the logistics networks sustaining oil theft in the Niger Delta. The boat and its contents have been confiscated for further investigation.

The Navy reaffirmed its commitment to sustained maritime security operations aimed at protecting Nigeria’s petroleum resources and reducing environmental damage caused by illegal refining activities. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
