Troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces under Operation Hadin Kai have reportedly recorded another major battlefield success against Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters during ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North-East.

Military sources say that in recent operations across parts of Borno State, troops successfully repelled coordinated attacks by ISWAP fighters targeting military positions. The insurgents were met with strong resistance from ground forces supported by intelligence and air operations, forcing them to retreat in disarray.

According to defence sources, the follow-up operations led to the neutralisation of several terrorists and the destruction of equipment used by the group. Weapons and other items were also recovered from abandoned positions following the clashes.

Officials described the development as part of sustained efforts by the military to degrade insurgent capabilities in the Lake Chad Basin and prevent further attacks on both civilian communities and security installations.

Operation Hadin Kai, the Nigerian military campaign against Boko Haram and ISWAP, has in recent months intensified offensives across Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa States, with authorities reporting increased pressure on insurgent networks and reduced operational freedom for the groups.

Security analysts say that while significant gains have been made, isolated attacks and ambush attempts by insurgents continue to pose a challenge in remote areas of the North-East.

The military has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorist groups until lasting stability is achieved in the region. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
