Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have rescued 53 stranded civilians and recovered eight vehicles after dismantling a roadblock mounted by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters along the Buratai–Kamuya Road in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

The operation, conducted on Friday, followed reports that insurgents had blocked the route, leaving dozens of travelers stranded and disrupting movement along the busy road.

According to the military, troops swiftly engaged the terrorists, cleared the roadblock, and restored safe passage for motorists. Eight vehicles abandoned during the incident were also recovered, while all 53 stranded civilians were safely evacuated without reported casualties.

The military said the operation forms part of ongoing counter-insurgency efforts under Operation Hadin Kai to protect civilians, secure major roads, and deny terrorist groups freedom of movement across the North-East.

Security operations against insurgent groups have continued across Borno State as troops intensify efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and improve safety for residents and commuters. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
