Twenty traditional rulers displaced by worsening insecurity in Kwara South have enlisted the services of Sunday Igboho’s Iru Ekun security outfit in a bid to reclaim their communities from terrorists, kidnappers, and other criminal elements.

The move comes after months of violent attacks that forced many residents, including traditional rulers, to flee their ancestral homes, leaving several communities deserted.

According to reports, operatives of the Iru Ekun security network have already visited parts of Kwara South, including Isanlu in Isin Local Government Area, to assess the security situation ahead of planned operations. Sunday Igboho was not part of the assessment visit.

Confirming the development, the Olowa of Owa Onire, Oba AbdulRahman Fabiyi, said the intervention had raised fresh hopes among affected communities. He expressed optimism that improved security would enable displaced residents and monarchs to return to their homes.

Also commenting, the Coordinator of the Joint Security Watch in Kwara South, Elder Olaitan Oyin-Zubair, disclosed that soldiers and local security stakeholders had held meetings with members of the Iru Ekun team. He urged the outfit to collaborate with the military, police, and other security agencies while making the rescue of kidnapped victims a top priority.

Responding on behalf of the security outfit, Iru Ekun leader Muyiwa Adeniyi assured the monarchs that the group would work in synergy with government security agencies to tackle insecurity and help restore lasting peace across the affected communities. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
