Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has married Edo lawmaker Natasha Osawaru in a private traditional ceremony. Images and videos from the occasion, which surfaced on social media on Thursday, showed the couple adorned in regal attire. 2Baba wore a white short-sleeved native shirt with grey embroidery, paired with a white wrapper and accessorised with coral beads, white shoes, dark sunglasses, and a beaded staff. Natasha stunned in a red off-shoulder dress, the traditional Edo ‘okuku’ coral-bead crown, and layered coral bead jewellery reflecting her heritage.

The wedding comes six months after 2Baba publicly confirmed his separation from his wife of 12 years, actress Annie Macaulay. The singer has maintained that his relationship with Natasha did not cause the split, explaining that their connection blossomed naturally and was built on emotional compatibility. Their romance became public in February after 2Baba’s Valentine’s Eve proposal. In April, Natasha visited 2Baba’s mother, Rose Idibia, in a moment that drew public attention after a viral video showed the singer’s mother urging her to “remove the beads” from him, a comment interpreted by many as a spiritual concern. Mrs Idibia later gave her blessing.

Speaking on the 234 Mzansi podcast, 2Baba described Annie as an “amazing” woman, reiterating that their separation was mutual and free of animosity. He advised couples to prioritise personal happiness over societal expectations, saying, “If a marriage is not working, the couple should try to fix it. But if it still doesn’t work, no one should be forced to stay.” Annie publicly confirmed their split at the 17th Headies Awards in April, closing the chapter on a love story that began in 1999 and produced a marriage celebrated in Dubai in 2013 but marred by long-standing controversies.
