The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has confirmed that Raye’s discharge certificate was withheld after she failed to attend the mandatory biometric clearance in April, as stipulated by the NYSC Bye-Laws.
According to the NYSC, participation in scheduled biometric clearances is a compulsory requirement for corps members to validate their service and qualify for a discharge certificate. The agency stressed that failure to comply with such provisions automatically triggers sanctions, including the withholding of certificates.
Officials reiterated that the biometric process is designed to ensure accountability and proper documentation of corps members’ service records, warning that repeated non-compliance could result in an extension of service or other disciplinary measures.
