
Troops of the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Lokoja, have successfully rescued six kidnapped victims during a coordinated search and rescue operation in Kogi State.
The operation took place in the Ejiba and Saminaka Forests axis, covering Yagba East and Yagba West Local Government Areas. According to a press statement by Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for 12 Brigade, the mission is part of ongoing efforts to eliminate criminal activities in the state.
The statement said that intensive air and ground offensives, supported by a Nigeria Police helicopter, led to the interception and release of the victims by the bandits following sustained pressure from the joint operations.
Five of the rescued victims have been reunited with their families in Egbe and Ejiba communities, while the sixth is receiving medical attention due to the condition at the point of rescue.
The Army described the operation as another operational success in its ongoing fight against kidnapping and other criminal activities in Kogi State.
