The Federal Government and the Aliko Dangote Foundation have launched a ₦100 billion annual scholarship fund to support Nigerian students. The programme, starting in 2026, is expected to run for 10 years, benefiting over 1.3 million students nationwide.
A key component is the Aliko Dangote STEM Scholars initiative, which will support 30,000 undergraduates annually in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Additional scholarships may cover secondary school students, technical trainees, and girls’ education.
Vice President Kashim Shettima praised the initiative as a major boost to education, while Dangote emphasized merit-based selection and partnerships with JAMB, WAEC, NECO, and NELFUND to ensure transparency. The fund is considered one of Nigeria’s largest private scholarship commitments, aimed at expanding access to quality education. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
