The Katsina State Police Command has recorded two major security successes with the rescue of two kidnapped women and the prevention of a cattle rustling attack in separate operations across the state.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the command said the first operation took place on July 11 after suspected bandits riding three motorcycles attacked Jauga Settlement in Sabon Gida Village, Kankia Local Government Area, and abducted two women.

The victims, identified as 20-year-old Rukayya Yahaya and 22-year-old Sahura Abdulhadi, were rescued unhurt after police operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer in Kankia, responded swiftly to a distress call received at about 11:45 a.m. The operatives engaged the attackers in a gun duel, forcing them to flee into a nearby bush with suspected gunshot wounds while abandoning the captives.

In a separate operation on July 13, police also foiled an attempted cattle rustling incident in Majen Waya Village, Charanchi Local Government Area. According to the command, suspected armed bandits invaded the community at about 10:00 a.m. with the intention of rustling cattle, but were repelled by security operatives.

The police said the operations reflect the command’s sustained efforts to combat banditry and other criminal activities while ensuring the safety of residents and their property across Katsina State. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
