Rice, Beans, Garri and Tomatoes Become Cheaper Across Nigeria in October

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reports a drop in the prices of key staples across Nigeria in October 2025.

Brown beans: ₦2,798 → ₦1,760 per kg (-37%)

White garri: ₦1,198 → ₦847 per kg (-29%)

Tomatoes: ₦1,466 → ₦1,269 per kg (-13%)

Local rice: ₦1,945 → ₦1,914 per kg (-2%)

While staples fell, onions rose slightly, and boneless beef recorded a 17% increase. Prices varied by state: beans were highest in Imo, garri in Bayelsa, tomatoes in Ebonyi, and rice in Ogun.

The decline in staple prices contributed to a modest easing of food inflation and overall consumer prices in October, providing some relief for households. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
