The Lagos State Government has announced temporary road closures on Lagos Island ahead of the 7th Road Edition of the Lagos Autofest 2025 Race, scheduled for Sunday, December 21. In a traffic advisory, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, confirmed that vehicular movement around Inner Marina, Marina Road, and Kakawa Street will be restricted between 12:00 noon and 7:00 pm.
Osiyemi explained that the race route will begin from Marina Road (UBA), pass through Kakawa Street, Balabina Street, Broad Street, and Issah Williams Street, before terminating at Inner Marina. To ensure safety during the event, all junctions and intersections along the race corridor will be fully cordoned off with road barriers.
The commissioner urged motorists to remain patient and plan alternative routes, assuring residents that traffic management agencies including LASTMA, the Nigerian Police Force, the Federal Road Safety Corps, and the Lagos State Neighbourhood Corps will be fully deployed to manage traffic, maintain order, and minimise disruption across affected areas.
