Several dozen people are feared to have lost their lives after a devastating fire erupted at a bar in the popular Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana.

Police authorities said the blaze, which broke out in the early hours of January 1, left more than 100 people injured, many of whom are receiving treatment for burns and smoke inhalation.

Emergency responders were swiftly deployed to the scene as flames tore through the crowded venue, triggering panic and a large-scale rescue operation. Officials have not yet released an exact death toll, but fear casualties could rise as search and recovery efforts continue.
