The Federal Government has issued a high flood risk warning affecting 33 states and over 14,000 communities across the country, urging residents to remain alert and take precautionary measures.
The warning, issued under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, is based on updated meteorological and hydrological forecasts indicating heightened rainfall intensity and increased flood risks in vulnerable areas.
State governments, emergency response agencies, and local authorities have been advised to activate preparedness plans, clear drainage systems, and, where necessary, relocate residents in high-risk communities.
The government also stressed the importance of early warning compliance and public awareness to reduce the potential impact of flooding on lives and property.
