
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the President-elect of the Republic of Benin, His Excellency Romuald Wadagni, following his victory in the presidential election held on April 12.
Wadagni, who serves as Benin Republic’s Minister of Finance, emerged winner with an overwhelming majority of votes.
In a letter personally signed by him, President Tinubu said the outcome “reflects the trust the Beninese people have placed in your vision and your distinguished record of service as Minister of Finance.”
He noted that Nigeria and Benin Republic “share a long history of friendship, cultural ties, and cooperation,” expressing readiness to work with the President-elect to further strengthen bilateral relations, regional security, and economic prosperity within ECOWAS and the African Union.
Tinubu, in the letter addressed to Wadagni, also commended the people of Benin Republic for a peaceful electoral process, describing the transition as a significant moment in the country’s democratic journey.
He wished the President-elect success in his new role, expressing confidence in continued collaboration between both nations.
