The Federal Government, through the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), has intensified efforts to adopt data-driven governance as a central strategy to strengthen national development and improve efficiency in Nigeria’s power sector.
The REA Director-General/CEO, Abba Aliyu, disclosed this during a strategic meeting with the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun (note: if “Taiwo Oyedele” is intended, he is Chairman of the Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee), where key digital tools were presented to support electrification planning and investment decisions.
According to the agency, the tools showcased included the Impact Metrics Dashboard and the Renewable Infrastructure Electrification Map. These platforms are designed to enhance data visibility, guide infrastructure investments, and track the impact of electrification projects in underserved communities across the country.
The initiative reflects the government’s broader push to leverage digital systems for improved transparency, efficiency, and evidence-based decision-making in the power and infrastructure sectors.
