The Nigerian military has announced the rescue of 398 kidnapped victims, the arrest of 31 suspected terrorists and their collaborators, and the neutralisation of 10 terrorists and other criminal elements during coordinated operations conducted across the country over the past week.

The disclosure was made by the Defence Headquarters during a briefing in Abuja by Major General Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations. According to the military, the operations targeted terrorist groups, bandits, kidnappers and other criminal networks operating in multiple regions of the country.

Major General Onoja said troops deployed under various military operations recorded significant gains, particularly in north-western states affected by persistent insecurity. Forces operating under Operation Fansan Yamma carried out offensives in Kaduna, Katsina and Zamfara states, disrupting criminal activities and dismantling several hideouts.

The military also reported the recovery of arms, ammunition and logistics supplies during the operations. In one interception along the Gusau–Shinkafi route in Zamfara State, troops recovered a locally fabricated pistol and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition concealed in a sack of millet.

According to the DHQ, the nationwide operations form part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, banditry and kidnapping across Nigeria. Authorities said security forces remain committed to sustaining pressure on criminal groups, even though a detailed breakdown of all rescue locations was not provided.

The latest figures highlight ongoing security challenges in parts of the North-West and North-East, where armed groups continue to carry out attacks and abductions despite intensified military operations. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
