Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with federal authorities and security agencies as part of efforts to address insecurity and enhance public safety across the state.

Makinde made the pledge during a meeting with the Deputy Inspector-General of Police for the South-West, Olatoye Fayoade, in Ibadan, where discussions focused on the security situation in Oyo State and strategies to curb criminal activities.

The governor said recent security challenges, including the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area, highlight the need for improved coordination, intelligence sharing and joint operations among all levels of government and security institutions.

According to Makinde, the Oyo State Government will continue to support security agencies through the provision of logistics, infrastructure and other resources needed to strengthen their operations.

He acknowledged the challenges facing security personnel, including limited resources and the vast areas requiring surveillance, while assuring residents that his administration remains committed to securing the safe return of the abducted victims.

Makinde also highlighted recent measures introduced by his administration to improve security coordination, including initiatives aimed at regulating local security and vigilante groups to enhance accountability and operational effectiveness.

In his remarks, Fayoade assured residents that security agencies remain committed to tackling criminal activities and improving safety through sustained collaboration with state governments and local stakeholders.
