Deadly Overnight Attack Rocks Plateau Community, 21 Feared Killed

At least 21 people are feared dead following a late-night attack on Kawel Village in Mushere Kingdom, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria.

According to reports, armed attackers invaded the community around 11:40 p.m. on Sunday, shooting indiscriminately at residents who were asleep. Several others were also injured during the assault, while many villagers fled into nearby bushes for safety.

A community leader, Christopher Luka, confirmed that local youth groups were alerted shortly after midnight and that at least 21 deaths had been recorded so far.

Security operatives were later informed and deployed to the area.

Residents described the attack as sudden and unprovoked, noting that the gunmen moved through the village without resistance before escaping.

The incident adds to a growing wave of violence in parts of Plateau State, where rural communities have continued to suffer repeated attacks in recent years.
