The Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSCON) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently address reported delays in the funding of Tantita Security Services, warning that the situation could affect ongoing efforts to secure oil facilities in the Niger Delta.

HOSCON expressed concern that inadequate or delayed funding may weaken the effectiveness of surveillance operations aimed at combating oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the region.

The group noted that Tantita Security Services has played a significant role in improving crude oil production levels through its pipeline surveillance activities, which have helped reduce illegal bunkering and sabotage.

It urged the federal government to ensure timely and consistent funding to sustain the gains already achieved in the oil and gas sector, stressing that any disruption could reverse progress made in recent years.

HOSCON also called for stronger collaboration between host communities, security agencies, and private surveillance contractors to further stabilize oil production and enhance national revenue.

The group reaffirmed its support for efforts aimed at protecting national assets and improving the livelihoods of communities in oil-producing areas.
