APC aspirants across several states are intensifying the battle for governorship tickets ahead of the 2027 elections, as internal contests continue to deepen within the ruling party.

The development follows growing resistance by many aspirants to consensus arrangements being promoted by party leaders in some states.

In Lagos State, some governorship hopefuls are reportedly insisting on participating in the primaries despite endorsements already secured by Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat from influential stakeholders within the party.

Ogun State is also witnessing heightened political activity, with leading aspirants mobilising support across the state amid concerns over possible candidate imposition.

Similar contests are emerging in Nasarawa, Oyo, Bauchi, Kwara, Rivers, Borno and Yobe states, where multiple aspirants have declared interest in the APC governorship tickets.

The situation is increasing the possibility of direct primaries in many states as party leaders work to manage rival interests and prevent internal divisions ahead of the elections.
