
Suspected bandits have abducted a school principal, a National Examinations Council (NECO) supervisor and four students after attacking Government Secondary School, Opada-Olowa, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State during the ongoing NECO examination.
The armed men reportedly stormed the school at about 5:25 p.m. while candidates were writing their examination, forcing the victims into the nearby bush and leaving students, teachers and residents in panic.
The Kogi State Police Command confirmed the incident, identifying the abducted principal as Mr. Nyada Daniel and the NECO supervisor as Mr. Solomon Audu. The command said security operatives, in collaboration with other agencies, immediately launched a search-and-rescue operation to secure the victims’ release.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, disclosed that one of the abducted students has been rescued, while efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
