Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigerians to remain united and supportive of ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning the country for sustainable growth and development.
Speaking in his Eid-el-Kabir 2026 message, the Vice President said the values of sacrifice, obedience, faith and compassion associated with the celebration should guide citizens in promoting peace, tolerance and national cohesion.
He encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period to support the less privileged and strengthen relationships across ethnic, religious and political lines, stressing that unity remains critical to national progress.
Shettima noted that Nigeria’s development cannot flourish in an atmosphere of division and mistrust, calling on citizens to work together in confronting the country’s common challenges.
The Vice President reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to addressing insecurity, stabilising the economy, creating jobs and improving opportunities for Nigerians.
According to him, the ongoing reforms may demand patience and sacrifice from citizens but are necessary to secure a stronger and more prosperous future for the country.
He also appealed for continued support for the Federal Government’s reform agenda, saying collective effort and shared sacrifice are essential in overcoming poverty, insecurity and social challenges.
Shettima further assured Nigerians that the government remains determined to restore peace and security across the country, while commending members of the armed forces and other security agencies for their dedication and service.
Expressing optimism about the nation’s future, the Vice President said Nigeria is gradually advancing towards peace, recovery and sustainable development.
