The Federal Government has announced Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays in observance of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The declaration is to allow Muslims across the country to mark the annual religious festival in line with Islamic traditions.

Eid-el-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most important celebrations in Islam, observed with prayers, family gatherings, and the slaughtering of rams in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to God.

The Federal Government urged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for peace, unity, and national development.

Further details on the announcement are expected from the relevant authorities.
