Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to eliminating malaria and safeguarding public health across the country, as Nigeria joins the global community to mark World Malaria Day.
In her message commemorating the 2026 observance, the First Lady emphasized the importance of collective action under this year’s theme, “United Against Malaria.” She noted that tackling malaria requires sustained collaboration among stakeholders, increased domestic financing, and the adoption of innovative solutions to address persistent challenges such as drug resistance and unequal access to healthcare.
Senator Tinubu called for strengthened prevention strategies and the expansion of life-saving interventions, stressing the need to ensure that vulnerable communities have access to essential tools for malaria prevention and treatment.
She further urged Nigerians and partners to remain committed to the fight against the disease, expressing confidence that a malaria-free world is achievable through unity and coordinated efforts.
World Malaria Day is observed annually on April 25 to raise awareness and mobilize action toward the global eradication of malaria.
