Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, former Director of Defence Information, was laid to rest in Katsina State following his death while in captivity after being abducted by bandits. Family members, military officers, government officials, and other mourners attended the funeral prayers and burial rites held in accordance with Islamic tradition.

Abubakar was reportedly kidnapped alongside his wife while travelling in Katsina State. Authorities said he died during captivity after suffering health complications. His passing has renewed concerns over insecurity and kidnapping in parts of northern Nigeria.
