Ondo Monarch Abducted as Gunmen Shoot Wife During Palace Attack

Suspected kidnappers have abducted the village head of Ode Oriya in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State after invading his residence and shooting his wife during a late-night attack.

The traditional ruler, Adeniyi Adelana, was reportedly seized around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday when about six armed men stormed the community. Witnesses said the attackers shot his wife before whisking the monarch away into a nearby forest.

Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Command said the victim’s wife is receiving medical treatment, while security operatives have launched a rescue operation to secure the safe release of the abducted community leader.

Police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh said tactical teams have been deployed to comb surrounding forests and suspected escape routes in search of the kidnappers.

According to the police, intelligence and operational units have been directed to intensify efforts to rescue the monarch and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

The incident has heightened concerns over insecurity in parts of Ondo State, with residents calling for stronger security measures to protect rural communities from criminal activities.
