PDP Rejects Wabara’s Leadership Claim, Clarifies Supreme Court Judgment on Party Crisis

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed claims by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara that the party’s Board of Trustees had assumed leadership following the recent Supreme Court judgment on the party’s leadership crisis.

The party said the apex court judgment only nullified the controversial Ibadan National Convention held in November 2025 and did not create any leadership vacuum within the PDP.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary Jungudo Mohammed stated that the party’s leadership structure remains intact under Acting National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed and National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu.

According to him, the Supreme Court did not rule on the suspension or expulsion of any party officials, stressing that such matters were not before the court.

The PDP accused Wabara and some stakeholders of misrepresenting the judgment to mislead party members and the public, insisting that the Board of Trustees has no constitutional authority to take over the leadership of the party.

The party further maintained that Wabara’s tenure as Chairman of the Board of Trustees had expired and affirmed Senator Mao Ohuabunwa as the recognised chairman of the BoT.
