The Presidency has called for legal action against social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VDM, over the circulation of an alleged fake audio linked to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, accused the influencer of spreading false information online, describing the incident as an abuse of social media platforms.

Onanuga made the remarks on Wednesday in a post on X while reacting to controversy surrounding an audio recording circulating online and allegedly attributed to President Tinubu.

According to the presidential aide, VDM should face legal consequences for allegedly disseminating false content capable of misleading the public.

He stated that the circulation of unverified materials on social media poses a serious threat to public trust and responsible information sharing.

The comments followed reactions from social media users questioning the authenticity of the audio recording, with some dismissing it as propaganda aimed at misleading members of the public.

The development has continued to generate mixed reactions online as debates persist over the authenticity of the recording and the growing concern over the spread of unverified content on digital platforms.
