Finance Minister Wale Edun Attends Funeral of Mrs. Margaret Olabisi Agbaje

The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, today attended the funeral service of Mrs. Margaret Olabisi Agbaje, mother of Jimi Agbaje, the 2015 Lagos State Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Segun Agbaje, Group Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc. Mrs. Agbaje passed away on March 5.

The solemn ceremony, held in Lagos, drew the presence of several high-profile dignitaries, including Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, among others.

Mrs. Agbaje was a highly respected educator, community leader, and former President of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), Lagos Ecclesiastical Province. She dedicated decades to shaping young minds, teaching mathematics at Holy Child College, Lagos (1953–1959), serving at St. Joseph’s Teacher Training College, Surulere (1960–1971), and later leading as Headmistress of St. Catherine’s Model School, Surulere (1971–1982). Her influence on education was profound and lasting.

Beyond her contributions to academia, Mrs. Agbaje played a significant role in the Catholic community. She served with distinction as President of the CWO, Lagos Ecclesiastical Province, and held key leadership positions in several church organizations.

Her passing marks the end of an era, but her dedication to education, faith, and community service leaves an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire many.
