Nigeria’s camp has officially opened ahead of their 2026 World Cup play-off clash against Gabon, with ten players already in camp as of early Monday.
Those present at the team’s base in Rabat, Morocco, include Fulham duo Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi, along with Samuel Chukwueze, Wolves forward Tolu Arokodare, and Olakunle Olusegun of Russian side Pari Nizhny Novgorod.
Also in camp are Besiktas midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, FC Paris winger Moses Simon, captain William Troost-Ekong, rising defender Benjamin Fredericks, and Chidozie Awaziem of FC Nantes.
Coach Eric Chelle invited 24 players for the crucial tie, coming just weeks after Nigeria sealed their play-off berth with a commanding 4-0 victory over neighbours Benin Republic.
The Super Eagles face the Panthers of Gabon on Thursday, November 13, 2025, in the semi-final of the African play-offs, with both teams chasing a spot in the final.
The winner will go on to face either Cameroon or DR Congo for Africa’s lone ticket to the intercontinental play-off scheduled for March 2026.
