Former Minister of Transportation and presidential aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has rejected the outcome of the party’s presidential primaries, describing the results as “concocted.”
Amaechi, in a statement issued after the exercise, alleged widespread voter disenfranchisement across the country during the primaries. He insisted that the process failed to meet the standards of fairness, transparency, and credibility expected of the party.
The former Rivers State governor stated that he had earlier vowed to accept the outcome only if the process was free and fair, stressing that he could not endorse results from what he described as a flawed exercise.
He claimed that about 80 percent of party members were allegedly denied the opportunity to vote, questioning the credibility of the exercise and warning that such practices undermine the ideals upon which the ADC was founded.
Amaechi further accused the party of engaging in the same electoral malpractices it had previously condemned against the ruling APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), including vote buying, result manipulation, and voter disenfranchisement.
He maintained that such actions were unacceptable and contrary to the ADC’s vision of providing Nigerians with a credible alternative platform.
