Former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, and former Senator Sandy Onor have emerged as the presidential flagbearers of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) respectively ahead of the 2027 general election.
Duke was cleared to contest the PRP presidential primary, while Onor emerged as the consensus presidential candidate of the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led faction of the PDP during a primary election held in Abuja.
Onor, who was affirmed through a consensus process involving delegates from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, pledged to provide purposeful leadership and reposition Nigeria if elected president in 2027.
The emergence of both candidates comes amid increasing political activities and realignments ahead of the next presidential election.
