Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP militants have reportedly set fire to a primary school and a day secondary school in Kautikari village, Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, during a late-evening attack that forced residents to flee for safety.

Security sources said the attackers stormed the community around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, targeting school buildings before setting them ablaze and escaping into nearby bushland.

Residents reported widespread panic as families abandoned their homes to avoid being caught in the violence. No confirmed casualties had been reported at the time of filing this report, while authorities are still assessing the extent of damage to the affected schools.

Community sources said the attackers appeared to deliberately target educational facilities, raising renewed concerns over the safety of schools in the insurgency-hit region.

The incident adds to a long-running pattern of attacks in Nigeria’s northeast, where armed groups have repeatedly targeted civilians and infrastructure, disrupting education and displacing communities.
