President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned the death of retired Major-General Rabe Abubakar, who was abducted by terrorists in Katsina State and later died in captivity.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Presidency, Tinubu described the late senior officer as a distinguished soldier who served Nigeria with honour, expressing deep sorrow over the incident.

The retired general was reportedly kidnapped alongside his wife while travelling in Katsina. His death while still in the custody of the abductors has sparked renewed concern over insecurity in parts of northern Nigeria.

Tinubu commiserated with the family of the deceased and extended condolences to the government of Katsina State and the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Reiterating his administration’s stance on national security, the President declared that the Federal Government would not engage in negotiations with terrorists or concede to their demands.

He warned armed groups to surrender or face intensified military action, stressing that “there will be no mercy for those who trade in the blood of Nigerians.”

The Presidency said the incident would not weaken government resolve, but rather strengthen ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore security across the country. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
