No fewer than 88,000 farmers across the North-Central region have received agricultural inputs for the 2026 rainy season farming under the Federal Government’s food security intervention programme.

The initiative, aimed at boosting food production and supporting smallholder farmers, provided beneficiaries with improved seedlings, fertilisers, agrochemicals, and other farming materials to enhance productivity during the farming season.

The intervention was implemented under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen food security, increase agricultural output, and reduce the rising cost of food across the country.

Officials involved in the programme said the support targeted vulnerable farmers across states in the North-Central zone to ensure timely access to farming inputs ahead of the peak planting season.

They noted that the initiative is expected to improve crop yields, create more economic opportunities for rural farmers, and contribute to national food sufficiency.
