Nigeria’s power generation has increased to 4,300 megawatts following a boost in gas supply to thermal power plants nationwide, signaling a modest recovery in electricity output.
The improvement was driven by a rise in gas supply to generation companies, which enhanced the performance of gas-fired plants responsible for the bulk of the country’s electricity production.
Industry officials said the development also reflects better operational efficiency and coordination across the gas-to-power value chain, despite occasional system fluctuations.
To sustain the gains, the Federal Government has put in place measures, including closer monitoring of gas supply, to address bottlenecks and ensure more stable electricity generation across the country.
